I’m passionate about creating theatrical experiences that bring people from all walks of life together through shared joy and curiosity. I aim to create worlds onstage that are full of expression and life; designs that offer a playful escape from reality, allowing audiences to experience a story, rather than simply view it.
My name is Natalia Báez Ortiz and I am a Puerto Rican scenic designer with a background in visual arts, based in Orlando, FL. I'm pursuing a BFA in Scene Design at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, graduating in 2026. My passions and work expand beyond scenic design. I was the Properties Paint Apprentice for the Santa Fe Opera’s 2024 Season. With an interest in film, I’ve worked as a production designer and set decorator for multiple student films at UNCSA. In hopes of exploring design through different mediums, my other interests include block printing, themed entertainment, and model-building. I adore making tiny things!
